The World Whisky Forum with Feddie
Nagano, Japan: Feddie and World Whisky Forum
A Global Gathering: Feddie at the World Whisky Forum
In February, Feddie Ocean Distillery joined whisky producers from around the globe at the World Whisky Forum in Japan. The World Whisky Forum is an international gathering that brings together whisky makers, enthusiasts, and innovators to discuss trends, share insights, and celebrate the evolving whisky industry. Established in 2017 by Jan Groth, a respected figure in the whisky world, the forum is known for fostering collaboration and exploration of new ideas across cultural and geographical boundaries.
Founding Visions: Inspiring Stories from Whisky Pioneers
According to Feddie's Sales Manager, Martin Tønder Smith, one of the Forum's most compelling sessions was "Founding Philosophies". It gathered founders from across the globe to share their journeys. Producers from South Korea's Three Societies Distillery, Japan’s Shizuoka Distillery, Australia’s Overeem Whisky, and New Zealand's Põkeno Whisky shared invaluable stories of their beginnings, blending tradition with the drive to innovate. These diverse experiences brought to light the unique blend of artistry and tenacity required to build a whisky brand from the ground up.
“Gathering with whisky makers from 16 nations, diving deeply into critical topics and sparking rich discussions, left us full of new ideas and energy!” says Martin Tønder Smith.
Pushing Limits: Imagining Whisky’s Future
A highlight of the forum was the session titled "What Can Whisky Be," featuring contributions from Suntory (Japan),Amrut (India), Inner Mongolia Mengtai (China), and Archie Rose (Australia). This session explored forward-thinking perspectives on whisky’s evolution, sparking inspiration and new ideas.
